For all of you who want a really basic way to backup your blog and/or are new to WordPress and simply don’t know how to do so, this is a great starter tutorial for you. As mentioned in this tutorial and in my backup post, you should always backup your blog regularly.
This means that on average, for those who post 3 times per week or more, you need to backup weekly. For those who post 1 time per week you could backup monthly and everything in between would be good with a bi-weekly backup.
The export option in today’s tutorial comes standard with all WordPress installations and although it is a comprehensive backup, there are times that it isn’t all that a blogger may need or want. I plan to do tutorials that look at a few other options for backup plugins, especially plugins that you can setup an automatic backup schedule as well as where it gets backed up to (email or computer for example). I also plan to do a tutorial on how to use ftp and other ways to backup your theme, image files and more.
